AREAS OF PRACTICE > VCAT

The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) deals with many forms of small claims. You may have had difficulty in dealing with a company, purchasing goods or a motor vehicle, or be a tenant and have experienced difficulties.

VCAT has some advantages over having matters dealt with in the Magistrates' Court. It is faster and less expensive, however generally speaking costs are not recoverable from the other party.VCAT covers the following areas:

  • Business Licences
  • Civil Claims
  • Credit Contracts
  • Discrimination
  • Domestic Building
  • General List
  • Guardianship
  • Land Valuation
  • Planning
  • Real Property
  • Residential Tenancies
  • Retail Tenancies
  • State Taxation

We can help you prepare your matter for hearing and, depending on the size and nature of the dispute, we may be able to represent you at the hearing (legal representation is not permitted in all matters). We can help you bring or defend an action.
